About

Physicians for Reproductive Health (PRH) is seeking the next cohort of extraordinary physician advocates to become Fellows of the Leadership Training Academy Class of 2025. The goal of the LTA is to cultivate and support emerging leaders in reproductive and sexual health advocacy, with a specific focus on advocacy related to abortion. Expert instructors in leadership development, communications, policy, and medical education will help the Fellows develop and utilize the skills necessary to become effective, lifelong advocates for reproductive health.

PRH applies an equity lens to the application review process and involves multiple reviewers for each application consisting of PRH staff and PRH Board/LTA alumni members. The comprehensive scoring rubric and application questions were created thoughtfully by PRH staff with input from our partner orgs, including the If/When/How RJ Fellowship Program and the TEACH fellowship, as well as PRH Board/LTA alums, who have similar fellowship-based admissions processes and structures.

Each application reviewed considers:

  • Future goals/professional aspirations
  • Leadership & potential
  • Lived experience/distance traveled
  • Commitment to LTA values/goals
  • Policy/media advocacy readiness
  • Existing community/professional support
  • State of practice area

Applications are open to practicing physicians who have completed U.S. residency training in any medical specialty, and foreign medical graduates who will reside and/or practice in the U.S. during the LTA training period. We are actively seeking applicants who are ready to be vocal and visible advocates for comprehensive reproductive health care in all platforms. PRH aims to create a cohort of Fellows coming from diverse lived experiences, in alignment with the diverse lived experiences of the communities they serve. We approach our work at PRH and in the LTA with an anti-oppression lens, meaning we recognize that racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and other intersecting oppressions greatly impact us, patients, the work we do, and how we approach advocacy.

Participation expenses for all LTA Fellows will be covered in full by PRH, including travel, lodging, and meal expenses, as well as all training materials for in person and virtual components. Admissions decisions will be made by Monday, July 15 and all applicants will be notified regardless of acceptance.

CME credits via the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award (AMA PRA) Category 1 will be earned upon completion of the LTA program.

Deadline for applications is Monday, May 6, 2024.

After each application is scored by multiple reviewers, the top candidates are invited to phone/Zoom interview with several members of the PRH staff.
