Dr. Grimes has been a provider, researcher, and teacher of abortion since 1972. He was educated at Harvard, University of North Carolina, and Emory. Board-certified in both ob/gyn and preventive medicine, he has served on the staff of the CDC and four medical schools. Long a champion of evidence-based medicine, he and his CDC colleagues helped to place abortion care on a solid scientific footing in the early years after Roe v. Wade. Dr. Grimes chaired the World Health Organization Task Force conducting international research in abortion and emergency contraception. He has testified about abortion safety in state and federal courts, the Supreme Court of Ontario (Canada), and the U.S. Congress. After writing widely in the medical literature over his career, he recently published a book on the past, present, and future of abortion in America.
