Our Doctors: On Camera and On Point

Our doctors speak out against bad legislation in newspapers, on television and radio, and at rallies across the country. You can watch some standout examples of physician advocacy at work in these recent videos.


Board member and Leadership Training Initiative alumnus Willie Parker, MD, MPH, MSc, was honored by the UN Human Rights Office campaign as a “women human rights defender.” In this video, Dr. Parker speaks about women’s access to sexual and reproductive health care in the United States, disparities in access especially for African American women living in the South of the country, and his conviction that women are entitled to all of the same human rights as men.


Board Chair Nancy Stanwood, MD, MPH, spoke on a panel of “Public Health in the Shadow of the First Amendment,” held on Oct. 18, 2014, at Yale Law School.

Willie Parker, MD, MPH, MSc, appeared on MSNBC’s The Reid Report to discuss his work in Mississippi as well as abortion restrictions and current court court cases in Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas.
