In response to Governor Cuomo’s action to secure access to reproductive health care in New York, Dr. Anne Davis, Consulting Medical Director at Physicians for Reproductive Health made the following statement:
“I want to thank Governor Cuomo for taking action to secure women’s reproductive health care in New York state. By requiring health insurers to cover contraception without burdensome and expensive co-pays, Governor Cuomo has taken a big step to solidify the birth control wins in the Affordable Care Act and shows support for good medical care. These new rules will not only help women with birth control costs and create fewer trips to the pharmacy, they also make abortion more affordable for some women. Governor Cuomo’s policy will cement New York state as a national leader for women’s health. I am proud to practice medicine in a state that reaches for medical progress, no matter what happens on the federal level in the years ahead.”
