Dr. Maryam Guiahi is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Colorado, Denver, School of Medicine. Her passion for family planning and education stems from her experience at a religiously affiliated hospital during her medical school and residency training. During that time, she was faced with institutional restrictions that impacted her ability to provide comprehensive reproductive health care to her patients. She subsequently sought out fellowship training in family planning at Columbia University Medical Center. Her primary research interests are examining the impact of faith-based institutional restrictions on the education of medical students, the training of residents, and the provision of women’s health care.
