Kathleen Morrell, MD, MPH, joined Physicians in August 2014 as our second Reproductive Health Advocacy Fellow, a yearlong position with organizational roles in policy, media, medical education, and development activities.
Dr. Morrell is a graduate of the Family Planning Fellowship at Columbia University and a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist. She completed her Master of Public Health degree at Columbia University in 2014. Dr. Morrell completed her residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and received her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. She has presented at national medical conferences on a range of reproductive health topics.
An alumna of the 2012 Leadership Training Academy, Dr. Morrell has been practicing her media advocacy skills over the past two years, publishing a letter to the editor in the New York Times and appearing on CBS evening news in New York. As a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Legislative Committee for her local New York district, she has lobbied state lawmakers in Albany on a number of women’s health issues. In New York City, Dr. Morrell also works with the Department of Health’s school-based reproductive health initiatives.
