Story No. 370: Dr. Azmina from New York

As a family physician routinely counseling reproductive age women in my practice, I often think about Roe v. Wade and what it means. Fundamentally, the landmark decision of the Supreme Court means independence for women, granting them the control over their bodies that they deserve. Roe means maintaining the sanctity of the physician-patient relationship in a private manner, and treating reproductive health as essential health care, no different from anything else. It enables us to take pride in caring safely for our patients, regardless of what condition we are treating. It means that we take politics out of the exam room, and focus on caring for women. Roe means that we do what is right for women, that we trust them, and that we work together to help them.
