I love doing abortion care within the context of primary care! I have taken care of Jenny (name changed) for three years. She came in last week, unexpectedly pregnant and ambivalent about continuing the pregnancy. She wanted to know about how far along she was and about her abortion options. It turned out that she was still very early in pregnancy and so had some time to make her decision. We made a plan for her to talk with a few folks from her support system and to come back to clinic today. And today, she felt more certain that she wanted to keep the pregnancy, and so we happily started her prenatal care. All patients deserve access to full spectrum reproductive health care without shame or stigma, and it is a real joy to be able to provide that to patients with whom I already have a relationship.
