Story No. 446: Dr. Diana from California

A patient I saw in clinic (I’ll call her Sally) came in seeking an abortion after being bounced around between three other clinics due to a history of previous surgeries.

One of the clinic’s ultrasonographers told her to keep the pregnancy and became emotional. This person even followed up with a phone call asking Sally again to keep the pregnancy due to mental health concerns. Sally told me that this visit had not only delayed her care, but it was distressing.

When I looked up the name of the facility, it was a fake women’s health clinic and not a facility providing medical care. Propagation of false information, such as abortion causing depression, is coercive and a disservice to women who deserve accurate medical information when making decisions about their health.
