Story No. 513: Dr. Rachel from Missouri

A woman I’ll call Carrie came to see me for counseling regarding an abortion. Carrie told me about her long path to get to me—she originally tried to go to Planned Parenthood and was stopped outside by people wearing parking vests who claimed to be the people that could help her. Instead of having her come inside Planned Parenthood, they sent her to a RV across the street that housed a fake women’s health center.

From the fake clinic, they referred her to an Ob/Gyn who did not offer abortion. I asked how she finally found me. Carrie said “I called my oncologist, and they gave me your name. I have Stage 4 stomach cancer.”

This is why fake women’s health centers are so dangerous—they tried to make my patient continue her life-endangering pregnancy because they had no idea she carried a cancer diagnosis.
