Tulsi Patel
Tulsi Patel (MD) is a Fellow in our Leadership Training Academy Class of 2026 and specializes in Family Medicine. She shared the following reflections on her work, advocacy, and what brings her joy.
What are your clinical or research interests?
Integrating full-spectrum reproductive healthcare into primary care, pain management for in-office gynecologic procedures, immigrant health, chronic disease management.
What current policy issue motivates you to be an advocate?
Witnessing the effect of the Dobbs decision firsthand when I stepped outside of New England to provide abortion care in Kansas state was a deeply impactful experience to my growth and development as a reproductive justice advocate. By caring for the patients in the surrounding states most affected by the overturning of Roe v. Wade and observing the emotional weight of restrictive laws and long travel times impact their abortion experiences, I developed a deeper understanding of the multifaceted consequences of this ruling and a stronger drive for advocacy.
What local justice-centered organization do you wish we knew about?
What is bringing you joy these days?
Being an aunt to my ridiculously cute and silly niece, upcoming fall leaf peeping, and dancing on the couch to Beyonce 🙂
