Noria McCarther (MD) is a Fellow in our Leadership Training Academy Class of 2026 and specializes in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She shared the following reflections on her work, advocacy, and what brings her joy.

What are your clinical or research interests?

My professional focus centers on reproductive justice, birth equity, and eliminating Black maternal health disparities through community advocacy and engagement. I also have a particular interest in perinatal palliative care, periviable birth, and pregnancy loss.

What current policy issue motivates you to be an advocate?

Abortion restrictions, standardizing statewide maternal mortality reviews, insurance expansion for prenatal and postpartum care.

What local justice-centered organization do you wish we knew about?

Uzazi Village.

What is bringing you joy these days?

My recent trip to Italy for my Mom’s birthday!
