Jackie Castellanos
Jackie Castellanos (MD, MS) is a Fellow in our Leadership Training Academy Class of 2027 and specializes in Family Medicine. Reflections on work, advocacy, and sources of joy are shared below.
What are your clinical or research interests?
Medication abortion access and reproductive and sexual healthcare. As a family medicine physician, I am interested in providing addiction medicine services for prenatal and postpartum patients, newborn care, adolescents and adults.
What current policy issue motivates you to be an advocate?
As a new mom and physician, I am angry about the inequality families experience to raise our children and how to grow our families by advocating to change harmful policies.
What local justice-centered organization do you wish we knew about?
ACCESS Reproductive Justice. Before I knew anything about how to get an abortion, I called the ACCESS Healthline. The Healthline volunteer gave me reliable resources and support at a time when I felt completely alone. ACCESS RJ continues to shape policy in California and remove barriers for patients to get reproductive healthcare.
What is bringing you joy these days?
My daughter.
Our Meet Our Advocates series showcases the talents and passion of one of our doctors and finds out, in their own words, what inspires them to be physician advocates. Learn more about the Leadership Training Academy.
