Tal Lee
Tal Lee (DO, BS) is a Fellow in our Leadership Training Academy Class of 2026 and specializes in Complex Family Planning. She shared the following reflections on her work, advocacy, and what brings her joy.
What are your clinical or research interests?
Clinical interests: Gender-expansive abortion and contraception care, medical education and mentorship. Research interests: The intersection of social determinants of health and access to contraception.
What current policy issue motivates you to be an advocate?
The inability for all people to access safe, affordable, patient-centered abortion care.
What local justice-centered organization do you wish we knew about?
Not local to NY, but Desert Star Institute for Family Planning in Arizona. Dr. DeShawn Taylor welcomed me into her clinic when I was a medical student, during my Medical Students for Choice externship. It was my first introduction to abortion care. The mission of Desert Star is to create equitable access to reproductive and sexual health care while centering Black and Indigenous people of color.
What is bringing you joy these days?
Enjoying moments of calm, whether that is during a yoga class, listening to an audiobook, or walking in Central Park during golden hour with friends and family.
Our Meet Our Advocates series showcases the talents and passion of one of our doctors and finds out, in their own words, what inspires them to be physician advocates. Learn more about the Leadership Training Academy.
