At our annual Voices of Courage Benefit, we celebrated the bravery and compassion of our doctors and supporters across the country. Hosted by actor Elizabeth Marvel, we also honored our 2018 award recipients – Dr. Sacheen Nathan, Dr. Roslyn Kade, and Cecile Richards – for the extraordinary steps they’ve taken to ensure patients have access to reproductive health care.
We also debuted a moving film about the journey our incredible physicians take to become lifelong advocates. Watch and see why we’re prouder than ever to celebrate this year.
Surprise guest appearance from John Oliver! We heard some jokes, but more importantly, he said: “There’s not a time in recent memory that we've needed to support reproductive health more.”
Host actor and activist Elizabeth Marvel: “When Physicians for Reproductive Health asked me to present tonight, I had to say yes,” she says. “I believe in real facts and evidence-based medicine.”
Dr. Sacheen Nathan, recipient of the George Tiller, MD, Award said, “I love my job” and thanked the escorts, counselors, clinic owners, and researchers who make abortion care in the South possible.
Dr. Roslyn Kade, recipient of the William K. Rashbaum, MD, Award, said, "I believe we are honored to be able to care for patients...How many people get to go to bed at night knowing that they have helped someone get to live the life that they choose?”
We've partnered with Sophie Ratner Jewelry on the 1973 necklace to celebrate the autonomy over our bodies. When you buy one of the three designs, 30 percent of the proceeds will directly benefit Physicians for Reproductive Health.
