Physicians celebrates the passing of The Reproductive Health Act in New York

Today, New York passed The Reproductive Health Act, ensuring that New Yorkers have access to comprehensive reproductive health care.

In response, Dr. Anne Davis, Consulting Medical Director at Physicians for Reproductive Health and ob/gyn in New York, issued the following statement:

“As a physician who provides abortion care, I’m thrilled that we can finally celebrate the passage of The Reproductive Health Act. After years of making the case that New Yorkers deserve The Reproductive Health Act, today this common-sense, evidence-based policy passed.

The Reproductive Health Act protects what my patients need and deserve: access to abortion care.

“The Reproductive Health Act protects what my patients need and deserve: access to abortion care. We face threats to reproductive health care in many states and at the federal level. Here in New York, we are proud that our state has taken this step to protect the freedom and self-determination of patients and their families.

“Thank you to the health care providers, patients, policymakers, and activists for prioritizing the passage of The Reproductive Health Act in the first month of 2019. We have waited long enough for a law that respects the dignity and autonomy of New Yorkers.”
