Meet Our Advocates: Dr. Rachel Chisausky (she/her)

Where do you call home?
Still finding that. A small town in Illinois in the sense of growing up there and having family there. I am currently in Seattle for fellowship, but finding my post-training place, Idaho, felt like home during residency, and am looking to return.

What are your clinical or research interests?
Reproductive health, LGBTQ+ care, global medicine, addiction care. Full spectrum medicine — I believe your PCP should be a place you can come to for ALL your care needs.

What current policy issue motivates you to be an advocate?
So many! Threats to bodily autonomy (abortion, contraception, gender-affirming care) and the sad/ignorant/hateful rhetoric that backs these policies. I would like to become more involved in advocating for an integrated/universal system, and for more sustainable climate-focused practices in healthcare.

What local justice-centered organization do you wish we knew about?
Legal Voice is an excellent support for advocacy and policy work in Washington and Idaho. Northwest Abortion Access Fund has supported so many of my patients.

What is bringing you joy these days?
Being able to drive less than an hour to some incredible views and mountains and an awesome fellowship class (RHAP and LTA) giving me hope!
