SCOTUS Fails to Act on S.B. 8

This morning, the Supreme Court of the United States failed to issue a decision on Texas’ devastating abortion ban, Senate Bill 8 (S.B. 8).

President & CEO of Physicians for Reproductive Health and ob/gyn in DC Dr. Jamila Perritt responds:

“This morning, the Supreme Court of the United States failed the people of Texas again by not issuing a decision in the cases against Senate Bill 8 (S.B. 8). SCOTUS’ lack of action means that patients, families, and providers will continue having their lives unjustly controlled by anti-abortion lawmakers and courts. Pregnant people in Texas have had their access to abortion blocked for eighty-two days now. This is unacceptable. Access to abortion care is essential for the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Access to abortions means healthier families and communities.

“We demand that the Supreme Court act as soon as possible to block S.B. 8 and do right by Texans. We demand that the Senate move swiftly to vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act. We demand that the Administration continue to do everything it can to preserve access to abortion. Access to abortions means access to creating the futures we want and need. Access to abortions means healthier families and communities.”
