In response to the announcement that Cecile Richards is stepping down from her role at Planned Parenthood later this year, Physicians for Reproductive Health’s President and CEO Jodi Magee issued the following statement:
“Cecile Richards has been a tireless, fearless voice for women, families, and patients across America, and it has been an honor to work alongside her over these last 12 years as she has led Planned Parenthood. Throughout her tenure, she has not only steered Planned Parenthood with dedication and skill but also served as a model of leadership and allyship in the reproductive movement at large. Her legacy will include lasting shifts in how Americans think and talk about public health.
“Cecile is among the leaders who have been vital to sustaining the energy and passion that this political moment demands from us all.”
“She has also done this work during times of unparalleled turmoil, when our rights and our ability to exercise those rights have been under attack from every angle. Cecile is among the leaders who have been vital to sustaining the energy and passion that this political moment demands from us all. Although we will miss her in this fight, we know we are stronger and better because of her, and we will take that into the continued work ahead.
“Cecile has been an undaunted voice for progress throughout her career. We look forward to seeing what challenge she will tackle next, knowing that she will make it remarkable.
With all our heart, we thank you, Cecile.”
