Today, the Senate confirmed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Board Chair of Physicians for Reproductive Health Dr. Kristyn Brandi responds:
“Today we celebrate Justice Jackson. A justice for all of us. A justice for justice. As the reproductive health, rights, and justice movements prepare for the upcoming Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision that could gut or overturn Roe v. Wade, there is no better time to have a brilliant community-centered justice on our highest court. We need jurists like Justice Jackson that will protect our long-established constitutional right to privacy with compassion and integrity.
We celebrate Justice Jackson. A justice for all of us. A justice for justice.
“Abortion care is about caring for our communities. As an abortion provider, I know this to be true. Abortion care is safe; it is offered because we trust our patients, and because we are worthy of determining what happens to our bodies, our families, and our futures. Listening to Justice Jackson’s reflections on her exceptional career of legal scholarship, public service, being a parent, and being a friend made us all the more confident that she agrees with these core tenets of bodily autonomy and collective liberation.”
