Today, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson completed her historic nominations hearings.
Board Member of Physicians for Reproductive Health Dr. Ghazaleh Moayedi and ob/gyn in Texas responds:
“After this week’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearings to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States, it is clear that her qualifications as a nominee are unprecedented. Judge Jackson is one of our nation’s brightest legal minds and we look forward to her service on our nation’s highest court. Judge Jackson is not only thoughtful and methodical in her approach, but she is also committed to ensuring equal justice under the law for all of us.
She is also committed to ensuring equal justice under the law for all of us
“As an Iranian American, I am disappointed that some Senators put their blatant racism on full display this week. Despite Judge Jackson’s impeccable record and overwhelming qualifications, she was treated disrespectfully by the same Senators who rushed to confirm Justice Amy Coney Barrett. In addition, Senators asked her flagrantly misinformed questions about abortion in an act of inflammatory political theater, rather than legitimate discourse on if she should hold a position on our highest Court.
“As a community of physician advocates, we call on Senators to confirm Judge Jackson, without delay. Our nation is in desperate need of her talents and perspectives.”
