Today, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued its decision in Texas v. Azar, ruling the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act unconstitutional.
In response, Board Chair of Physicians for Reproductive Health Dr. Kristyn Brandi issued the following statement:
“Let me be clear: the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is still law of the land. Your existing insurance is still intact, you can still access the health care you want and need. Advocates across the country will continue fighting to keep it this way.
The ACA has been life changing and lifesaving for countless of Americans
“The ACA has been life changing and lifesaving for countless of Americans who once could not afford basic health care needs. The ability to get health care is at the center of economic security, the stability of our families, and our capacity to thrive.
“The ACA made important steps to improving health care access for people of color, people with low incomes, young people, and LGBTQIA folks, all while alleviating health disparities. This is precisely why the ACA must be protected.”
