Today in Texas, a lawsuit was filed to block S.B. 8, a radical new law which bans abortion as early as six weeks in pregnancy and includes an unprecedented provision allowing enforcement of this ban by private individuals.
Board Member of Physicians for Reproductive Health and ob/gyn in Texas Dr. Ghazaleh Moayedi responds:
“As an ob/gyn providing the full spectrum of reproductive health care, including abortion care for communities in Texas, I know that access to abortion care is an essential human right. Today, Texas abortion providers and abortion funds have filed lawsuits to ensure that abortion providers like me can continue providing high quality, compassionate health care to our fellow Texans.
“It is enraging that politicians in Texas are trying to determine the health care available to my community–my neighbors, my friends, and my family. As they continue to try and push their political agenda on the communities I care for, I will keep doing everything in my power to advocate on behalf of the basic, normal, necessary health care needs of people capable of getting pregnant in Texas.”
