In the upcoming election, Coloradans have an opportunity to stop a harmful restriction on abortion care.
Dr. Angela Marchin, ob/gyn in Colorado and Fellow with Physicians for Reproductive Health, issued the following statement in opposition of Colorado’s Proposition 115:
“As a provider of abortion care and someone who has had an abortion, I know full well that making health care harder to access harms people and communities. Proposition 115 is a dangerous ballot initiative pushing abortion care out of reach for those seeking care later in pregnancy.
There should never be exceptions on who does and does not have access to safe, essential health care.
“Life is complicated. Pregnancy is complicated. No matter the reason for needing access to abortion care, people should be able to access compassionate care in their communities without interference from politicians and free from harassment and stigma. There should never be exceptions on who does and does not have access to safe, essential health care.
“As a physician, I want to be able to care for my patients no matter what decisions or challenges they’re facing. People who need abortion care and the health care providers who make that care possible should not be punished. Every pregnancy is different and every family’s circumstances are unique. Please vote no on Proposition 115 and protect the autonomy and well-being of Coloradans.”
