Physicians for Reproductive Health Announces Dr. Diane Horvath-Cosper as Reproductive Health Advocacy Fellow

Dr. Horvath-Cosper, D.C.-based OB-GYN, is a Vocal, National Advocate for Abortion Rights

NEW YORK—Physicians for Reproductive Health (Physicians), the doctor-led national advocacy group, announced Dr. Diane Horvath-Cosper as the organization’s new Reproductive Health Advocacy Fellow, a role that positions her as a leading national voice for reproductive health.

Dr. Horvath-Cosper rose to national prominence after filing a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights in order to protect her ability to advocate for reproductive justice. At the time, she was a fellow in the Physicians for Reproductive Health Leadership Training Academy, which prepares doctors to become lifelong leaders in reproductive health advocacy.

“As an abortion provider, serving the best interests of my patients means being both a physician and an advocate,” said Dr. Diane Horvath-Cosper.  “Physicians for Reproductive Health has been a constant source of support and guidance for me in my advocacy work because they understand that the voices of abortion providers need to be uplifted and amplified, not silenced.  The only way we can tear down barriers and end stigma is by speaking out forcefully in support of reproductive health care, and I am thrilled to continue to work with Physicians to ensure that doctors have a strong voice in protecting access to safe, legal, abortion.”

As Reproductive Health Advocacy Fellow, Dr. Horvath-Cosper will serve as a national spokesperson for Physicians on contraception, abortion access, reproductive health, and state and federal policy. She will also mentor Physicians’ Leadership Training Academy fellows, helping them become vocal and visible advocates for reproductive health.

“Dr. Horvath-Cosper is a forceful, passionate voice for reproductive rights and for efforts to destigmatize abortion,” said Jodi Magee, president of Physicians. “We are so proud to provide her with a platform to continue her advocacy on behalf of women and abortion providers across the country.”
