Today, the Supreme Court of the United States granted requests by the government and Danco to stay Judge Kacsmaryk’s order in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA while the litigation proceeds.
Board Chair of Physicians for Reproductive Health and ob/gyn in New Jersey Dr. Kristyn Brandi responds:
“Today people who support abortions, need abortions, and provide abortions celebrate the Supreme Court issuing a decision that allows medication abortion with mifepristone to continue. Patients should have access to whatever they need, including medication to manage abortion and miscarriage care, as they seek to actualize the full spectrum of their sexual and reproductive well-being. As we argued in our amicus brief to the Court, the safety and efficacy of mifepristone is well-established and people need access to this essential medication.
“We are relieved that abortion access can continue uninterrupted in places where pre-existing abortion bans don’t exist on the state level. We will continue to show up and speak out against remaining medically unnecessary and dangerous bans and restrictions on abortion across the country. Abortion is necessary health care and should be available to our communities without barrier, delay, or stigma.”
