Abortion ban puts politics before Iowans’ health and well-being

Recently, a lawsuit was filed by Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, the Emma Goldman Clinic, and Dr. Jill Meadows to block the six-week ban in Iowa.

In response, Board member of Physicians for Reproductive Health Dr. Jill Meadows issued the following statement:

“As a physician and an advocate for my patients, I am participating in the challenge to this bill. This bill is not only unconstitutional, but it effectively denies a necessary medical procedure to Iowans.

“Iowa is my home and my community, and it appalls me to see politicians endangering the health of patients I take care of every day. Our state already faces a shortage of facilities that provide abortion care, and this bill makes it even clearer that out-of-touch legislators are putting politics before their fellow Iowans. My patients need laws that allow them to make the best decisions for their health and well-being. I need laws that allow me to use my medical expertise to provide life-saving and life-affirming health care.”
