Today the Trump administration released finalized a Department of Health and Human Services rule which could embolden hospitals, pharmacies, and a range of people involved in health care to deny health services based on personal beliefs.
Dr. Meera Shah, family medicine physician in New York and Fellow with Physicians for Reproductive Health, responded with the following statement:
“Queer, trans, and gender diverse people are at greater risk of discrimination which is why the Affordable Care Act includes protections. All people are deserving of comprehensive, compassionate health care.
“Especially in this time of crisis, the Trump administration must stop dismantling the policies that help keep people healthy and safe.”
