Story No. 169: Luna from Alaska

I am a single mother. I have suffered an ectopic pregnancy that almost lead to my death. I had an abortion the next year. I was offered very little family planning advice growing up, due to the shame surrounding the topic of sex in my home. I am not an unintelligent person. I suffered greatly from lack of understanding about reproductive health. I endured humiliation, severe pain, confusion, and various other afflictions of ignorance. In my early twenties, I was educated in depth about reproductive health. This was because of the steps I took to seek out services like Planned Parenthood. I will stand for programs like these and support the expansion of such programs, so fewer young women have to suffer the ailments I went through. I think it also pertinent to have these programs to assist women like myself who are given little to no reproductive guidance in their home lives. We suffer greatly from ignorance already, we need not backtrack in time to increase the suffering.
