A 23-year-old woman came to my clinic requesting an abortion, but seemed to feel uncomfortable with this decision. After extended counseling, the patient opened up and said actually she did want to continue the pregnancy. Her partner had told her the prior day that she had to get the abortion or he would hurt her. We were able to get her out of our clinic safely to her parent’s home and she was able to make the reproductive decision best for her. My job allows me to help my patients find the best options for them, even when it doesn’t require my medical expertise.
