Story No. 289: Emily from Missouri

When I was in my early twenties, I had a serious boyfriend. He and I always used protection, but one month my period was late. While I was fairly certain I wasn’t pregnant, I was sick with worry with every day that my period didn’t come.

I went to my local Planned Parenthood to take a pregnancy test. Everyone in the clinic was professional and reassuring. When the results came back, they let me know that I wasn’t pregnant, and that my late period was most likely due to stress. I was so relieved by the news, and I felt so much better about my access to reproductive health care. Simply knowing that I had accessible, supportive reproductive health options was the biggest relief I could have imagined.
