Growing up in California, being able to receive reproductive health care—from free STI tests to accessible birth control—has been so invaluable to my life as a young woman.
I realize now that this access is not something to take for granted. I was able to study and work towards the life I imagined for myself without the burdens and costs and emotional impacts that a lack of birth control or reproductive health care would have caused.
It deeply saddens and angers me to think that we as a country cannot come to consensus on the fact that reproductive health care (for women, for men, and for all gender identities!) is a right not a privilege. Physicians for Reproductive Health, thank you for being brave and effective in resistance to the current administration. It is much needed in this disorienting and debilitating political climate.
