In 2003, when I was 44, married, and the mother of three boys aged 17, 13, and 10, I became pregnant. It was unplanned. My marriage was strained and I had no desire to have more children. In consultation with my husband, I decided to terminate my pregnancy.

Even though I live in New York City, my gynecologist told me she did not perform abortions. I went to Planned Parenthood to terminate my pregnancy. They were supportive, kind, and affordable. I remain so grateful that that option was available to me and in a way that was safe and considerate.
