Story No. 391: Patient from New York

I have had the great fortune to be able to carefully determine when to create my family.

As a college student, I found out that I was pregnant, and it was clear to me that having a child was not the right choice for me. I was lucky to receive great care at a local Planned Parenthood, and I have never had any regrets about having an abortion.

About 20 years later, with a master’s degree and my own small business, I was ready to start my family. As a single woman, this decision was the epitome of family planning: it required the assistance of a doctor and sperm donor.

I am delighted that I live in a time where both the laws and the technology allow me to create my wonderful family, and I would be devastated if these rights were taken away from others because of the religious beliefs of a limited group.
