Story No. 405: Lynn from Washington

I am a 49-year-old woman who became unintentionally pregnant at 18. I was young, in college, away from family and friends, and I think I was one of the fortunate ones. I found myself at a Planned Parenthood clinic, where I was provided compassionate care and information about all of my options.

It was not an easy choice, but I did have a choice. I chose abortion and will never regret that decision. You see, if I had made any other decision, I would not have the most amazing son and husband now. In fact, my husband’s path and my path would never have crossed.

I don’t know what my life would have looked like had I chosen to continue the pregnancy, and the “what if” doesn’t even factor into my thought process. I am grateful for what I have and thankful for providers who are compassionate and dedicated to helping women in crisis.

Planned Parenthood also helped me prevent future unintended pregnancies and STIs and was and still is there for me for all of my reproductive health care needs. I will always support all reproductive health care providers and women in need of those services.
