I had a 23-year-old patient who was newly employed as a nurse. She was in a new relationship and while she was on the pill, it failed, and she became pregnant.

She was overwhelmed with her new job, mostly working nights, as well as not knowing if this new partner would be “the one.”

She was able to get a safe and legal abortion. After the abortion, her partner was very supportive and together their love grew. She now is married to this person and is a successful nurse who is fully employed, and she is thankful that she was given the choice she needed, when she needed it.
