Janet is sixteen. She came to her appointment with her father and looked very worried. As part of her appointment, I spent time with her in private.
Janet told me she had taken two at-home pregnancy tests and wanted me to check to be sure she was pregnant. She was starting to shake. She did not know how to process it all. She was not sure what her options were.
After further testing, we determined that she was five weeks pregnant. She had not known the options available to pregnant women, but she seemed to take it all in during our discussion. She left the clinic, still unsure of what she would do. I saw her again one week later and she was still weighing her options, trying to figure out what will be the best decision for her.
