Story No. 429: Lisa from Colorado

I was 32, white, married, and a college graduate. I had two “planned” preschoolers. From the outside, our lives looked perfect: a stable income, nice house, nuclear family, and stay-at-home mom. The reality was that we were struggling to meet the emotional needs of the four of us when we had an unplanned pregnancy. My husband and I were already near the breaking point. We went to a Planned Parenthood counselor and discussed options. We agreed that abortion was the best choice for us, because we needed to focus our time and energy on the four of us. That was 18 years ago, and neither of us have any regrets. I hope that abortion remains legal and safe.
