Last year, a young college student came in to see me with an unintended pregnancy, and I sat with her while she cried in the office. She knew that if she continued the pregnancy, she wouldn’t be able to afford to finish college and go on to accomplish her dream of becoming an immigration attorney—a dream she had because her parents were immigrants. She was the first female in her family to go to college and was already working two jobs to pay for her education. Thankfully, I was able to counsel her on her full range of options, including medication abortion. She got the care she needed and deserved, and was so relieved to know that her education would not be put on hold.
