I have been fortunate to be in places where I’ve been able to get birth control and testing easily. I had to take a pregnancy test at age 19 and was able to go to the University Health Services for that, and I spoke with someone who was supportive and not judgmental.
After that, I sought out an IUD, and although I had to call several places, I was able to find somewhere, borrow a friend’s car, and go get it.
Getting my second IUD was similar: my doctor at the time was able to take out the first one but did not do insertions, so Planned Parenthood helped with the insertion appointment.
I recently got a third IUD, and Planned Parenthood was also available to me for that.
