The ACA gave patients like Eleanor from New York affordable access to her IUD, but she’s scared she won’t be able to afford its replacement next year. It provided coverage for life-saving cancer screenings for Dr. Rebecca’s sick patient. Threats to this coverage causes immense fear and anxiety in the lives of so many patients and families.
Last Friday, when the bill to repeal the ACA was pulled and we learned the ACA is here to stay (for now), we celebrated these Voices of Courage stories and their impact. While the failure to repeal the ACA marks a victory on the path to maintaining the healthcare coverage we need, we know the fight is not over. We must continue fighting against future threats to safe, affordable, life-saving health care.
