Where do you call home?
I was born and bred in Columbia, Missouri which will always have a piece of my heart. Chicago also feels like home!
What are your clinical or research interests?
My clinical and research interests include Black maternal health, reproductive justice, and health equity. Additionally, I have special interests in health policy, adolescent sexual/reproductive health, global health, and exploring the intersections of performing arts and medicine in medical education.
What do you wish other providers knew about reproductive health, rights, and justice?
Access isn’t equal. There are still many barriers such as cost, geography, stigma, and racism that limit people’s ability to access abortion care and other reproductive services. As providers, it’s important to for us to serve as advocates for reproductive justice by recognizing and addressing systemic inequalities in order to achieve true equity.
What local justice-centered organization do you want to uplift?
Chicago Abortion Fund. They play such an important role in funding abortion care for patients needing care both from Illinois and outside the state who travel here for care!
What is bringing you joy?
Lakefront walks, great food, good books, singing, and spending quality time with friends and family!
