Meet Our Advocates: Dr. Megan Masten (she/her)

Where do you call home?
Ann Arbor, Michigan.

What are your clinical or research interests?
Clinical and research interests are within Complex Family Planning. I am hoping to do a randomized controlled trial looking at oxytocin use for hemorrhage prevention for second-trimester D&E. I am interested in the intersection of obesity and contraception and am interested in pain related to abortion care and novel methods of contraception.

What current policy issue motivates you to be an advocate?
I believe abortion care should be widely accessible and legal. I am lucky to practice in a non-restricted state and want to work towards bringing down barriers for people seeking abortion care in restricted states in the US.

What local justice-centered organization do you wish we knew about?
The local justice-centered organization that is near and dear to my heart is Cobalt. Cobalt is dedicated to supporting reproductive justice in Colorado and beyond and helps fund procedures for people seeking abortion care in Colorado. We could not provide the care we give without them!

What is bringing you joy these days?
I love being outside and feel the most at peace when hiking or camping. I am lucky to be in a beautiful state with amazing outdoor access. I am planning to travel to the Sawtooth Mountains and will rent a campervan in a few weeks!
